The following calculation methods are supported by the routing date calculation function:

  • On Start Date (default)
  • On End Date
  • Start Date Forwards
  • End Date Backwards

On Start Date

When you choose the Update Now button, the application performs the following:

  • Sets Resource Allocation on all lines to On Start Date.
  • Sets Start Date on all lines according to Start Date in the production order header.
  • Sets End Date on all lines according to Due Date in the production order header.

On End Date

When you choose the Update Now button, the application performs the following:

  • Sets Resource Allocation on all lines to On End Date.
  • Sets Start Date on all lines according to Start Date in the production order header.
  • Sets End Date on all lines according to Due Date in the production order header.

Start Date Forwards

When you choose the Update Now button, the application performs the following:

  1. Sets Resource Allocation on all lines to Start Date Forwards.
  2. Sets Start Date on the first Route Stage Type line according to Start Date in the production order header or to the current system date, if Start Date is in the past.
  3. Calculates route stage End Date.
  4. Sets Start Date of each next route stage according to the estimated End Date of the previous stage.
  5. Sets Due Date in the production order header according to the estimated End Date of the last route stage.
  6. Highlights in red the Update Now button as a result of any user action that affects this calculation (in other words, changes to Planned Qty, Start Date, End Date, Waiting Days, Calculation Proportion %; adding, deleting, or moving component rows).

Calculation of Route Stage End Date (Start Date Forwards):

  1. Start Date of all component lines belonging to a stage is set according to Route Stage Start Date.
  2. Calculation Proportion % of all Resource Type lines is set according to Route Stage Calculation Proportion %.
  3. Required Days is calculated for each Resource Type line.
  4. Resource with the maximum Required Days determines Required Days for a stage.
  5. Waiting Days is added to Required Days to calculate Total Days.
  6. Stage Total Days added to Start Date adjusted by Calculation Proportion % determines stage End Date and the remaining Calculation Proportion % for End Date day.
  7. Stage End Date is applied to all item components belonging to a stage.
  8. Stage End Date and remaining Calculation Proportion % for End Date day sets Start Date and Calculation Proportion % of the next stage.

Calculation of Required Days for each Resource line (Start Date Forwards):

  1. If Start Date is earlier than the current system date, the application starts estimation from the current system date and considers this day fully available (Calculation Proportion % = 100).
  2. Allocate committable first day Single Run Capacity adjusted by Calculation Proportion % (Single Run x Calculation Proportion % / 100).
  3. If allocated Single Run Capacity  Planned/Open Qty, go to step 5; otherwise, proceed to step 4.
  4. Get Single Run Capacity for next day, increase allocated Single Run capacity by this amount and go back to step 3.
  5. Return last processed date as End Date and return remaining Calculation Proportion % for End Date day calculated as (Allocated Single Run Capacity - Planned/Open Qty) / End Date Single Run Capacity * 100.
  6. Calculate Required Days as a difference between Start Date and End Date, considering Calculation Proportion % for both Start Date and End Date.

End Date Backwards

When you choose the Update Now button, the application performs the following:

  1. Sets Resource Allocation on all lines to End Date Backwards.
  2. Sets End Date on last Route Stage Type line according to Due Date in the production order header.
  3. Calculates Route Stage Start Date.
  4. Sets End Date of each route stage according to estimated Start Date of the next stage.
  5. Sets Start Date on Production Order header according to Start Date of first route stage.
  6. The Update Now button becomes highlighted in red as a result of any user action that affects this calculation (in other words, changes to Planned Qty, Start Date, End Date, Waiting Days, Calculation Proportion %; adding, deleting, or moving component rows).

Calculation of Route Stage End Date (End Date Backwards):

  1. End Date of all component lines belonging to a stage is set according to Route Stage End Date.
  2. Calculation Proportion % of all Resource Type lines is set according to Route Stage Calculation Proportion %.
  3. Stage End Date and Calculation Proportion % is further adjusted (shifted forwards) according to Waiting Days.
  4. Required Days is calculated for each Resource Type line belonging to a stage according to internally adjusted End Date and Calculation Proportion %.
  5. Resource with the maximum Required Days determines Required Days for a stage.
  6. Waiting Days is added to Required Days to calculate Total Days.
  7. Original Route Stage End Date and Calculation Proportion % reduced by Total Days determines stage Start Date and remaining Calculation Proportion % for Start Date day.
  8. Stage Start Date is applied to all item components belonging to a stage.
  9. Start Date and remaining Calculation Proportion % for Start Date day sets End Date and Calculation Proportion % of previous stage.

Calculation of Required Days for each Resource line (End Date Backwards):

  1. Reduce last day Single Run Capacity according to Calculation Proportion % (original Single Run Capacity x Calculation Proportion %).
  2. Allocate committable last day Single Run Capacity adjusted by Calculation Proportion % (Single Run x Calculation Proportion % / 100).
  3. If allocated Single Run Capacity  Planned/Open Qty, go to step 5; otherwise, proceed to step 4.
  4. Get Single Run capacity for previous day, increase allocated Single Run capacity by this amount and go back to step 3.
  5. Return last processed date as Start Date and return remaining Calculation Proportion % for Start Date day calculated as (Allocated Single Run Capacity - Planned/Open Qty) / Start Date Single Run Capacity * 100.
  6. Calculate Required Days as the difference between Start Date and End Date, considering Calculation Proportion % for both Start Date and End Date.
IMPORTANT Note: If resulting Start Date is earlier than current system date, estimation based on End Date Backwards will not reflect actual resource commitment.
