Clarification on the support scope for database index creation.

A database index is a data structure that improves the speed of operations on a database table. Indexes can be created using one or more columns of a database table, providing the basis for both, quicker random look-ups and efficient access of ordered records.
Advantages of indexes:
- Help speed up retrieval of data.
- Reduce server load.
Disadvantages of indexes:
- An index takes up quite a bit of space.
- Too many indexes can actually slow down the database.
- Indexes speed up finding data but can slow down insertion, update or deletion of data.
While analyzing the performance of a customer database, if you discover that the addition of an index can improve the performance of the database, please contact SAP Business One Support in order to get approval to add this index to your database. This approval process is applicable for standard SAP Business One tables or objects. In case you wish to create index(es) on tables or objects created by a user no approval from SAP Business One Product Support team is necessary.
Please note that it is not possible for SAP Business One Support to fully test all modules in SAP Business One. As a result, we are limited in the testing we can do to verify the overall performance. In such cases, even if the index is approved, SAP is not responsible for the impact the index might have on the overall performance of the database.
Please note the index (if approved) will be dropped after any database upgrade of SAP Business One. If only upgrading the SBO-Common database or the SAP Business One application, then the index will not be dropped.
