Symptom

When trying to delete the only row in Business Partner Catalog Numbers (BP catalog number) window, the following error message is displayed: Item number is missing; specify an item number [Message 173-3].

Environment

SAP Business One

Reproducing the Issue

Scenario:

  1. Go to Inventory → Inventory Management → Business Partner Catalog Numbers, navigate to an existing record for a specific BP with only one item on this list.
  2. Right-click on the only item, choose Delete Row and Update.

Actual behavior:

The following error message is displayed: Item number is missing; specify an item number [Message 173-3].

Resolution

When using the Delete Row option in the Business Partner Catalog Numbers window, at least one more row must exist after the row has been deleted in order to successfully update the Business Partner Catalog Number form. If only one row exists in the BP catalog number and this row is deleted, then the error message above is displayed.

In order to delete such BP catalog number, the full record must be deleted. To do this, use the Remove option.

You have two options to do it:

  1. Open the Business Partner Catalog Numbers windowright click the header and choose the Remove option.
  2. Open the Business Partner Catalog Numbers window, go to top menu Data and choose the Remove option.
